Direct Support Professional (DSP)
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will assist clients with daily activities in our Day Program, transport participants to and from the program, and participate in community outings.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide direct care while supporting the social needs of participants.
- Transport participants to and from the Day Program and act as an aide when required.
- Assist in developing appropriate activities for general and individual program plans according to room schedules.
- Drive an agency vehicle as required.
- Secure participants who use wheelchairs.
- Lift a minimum of 60 pounds, bend, push wheelchairs, provide physical intervention as necessary, and assist with lifting/transferring clients.
- Establish positive relationships that encourage clients to express their needs.
- Maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment.
- Provide individualized care in accordance with client needs and tasks.
- Encourage independent decision-making, productivity, and participation in activities.
- Maintain knowledge of each client’s limitations and requirements.
- Communicate client progress with service providers as outlined.
- Complete and maintain documentation in compliance with company procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Specific Requirements / Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Driver’s License (Required).
- Minimum 21 years of age with at least 2 years driving experience; clean driving record (maximum 2 points) with no restrictions that impede driving for agency duties.
- CNA/CMT Certification (Required).
- Minimum 1 year caregiver experience (Required).
- Minimum 2 years DSP experience (Required).
