Direct Support Professional (DSP)

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will assist clients with daily activities in our Day Program, transport participants to and from the program, and participate in community outings.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care while supporting the social needs of participants.
  • Transport participants to and from the Day Program and act as an aide when required.
  • Assist in developing appropriate activities for general and individual program plans according to room schedules.
  • Drive an agency vehicle as required.
  • Secure participants who use wheelchairs.
  • Lift a minimum of 60 pounds, bend, push wheelchairs, provide physical intervention as necessary, and assist with lifting/transferring clients.
  • Establish positive relationships that encourage clients to express their needs.
  • Maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment.
  • Provide individualized care in accordance with client needs and tasks.
  • Encourage independent decision-making, productivity, and participation in activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of each client’s limitations and requirements.
  • Communicate client progress with service providers as outlined.
  • Complete and maintain documentation in compliance with company procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Requirements / Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Driver’s License (Required).
  • Minimum 21 years of age with at least 2 years driving experience; clean driving record (maximum 2 points) with no restrictions that impede driving for agency duties.
  • CNA/CMT Certification (Required).
  • Minimum 1 year caregiver experience (Required).
  • Minimum 2 years DSP experience (Required).
