The Direct Support Professional:
As a Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for assisting clients in daily activities in our Day Program, transporting participants to and from the program as well as participating in community outings.

Core Responsibilities:

  • DSP will provide direct care while supporting the social needs of the participants receiving services.
  • Transport participants to and from the Day Program and act as an aide when required.
  • Assists in developing appropriate activities for general and individual program plans and according to the room schedule.
  • Driving an agency vehicle is required for this position.
  • Must be able to secure participants who use wheelchairs.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds, bend, push wheelchairs, provide physical intervention as necessary, and be able to lift and/or transfer people.

  • Assemble and utilize catheters, IV pumps, tracheotomy tubes, and oxygen and other nursing equipment and supplies as appropriate.
  • Assist in orienting, assigning, supervising, and evaluating new and experienced nursing assistant personnel and recommend to the supervisor promotions or disciplinary actions.
  • Answer resident call bells as needed.
  • May be required to have a resident assignment list and complete the duties of a nursing assistant if staffing needs require and/or per supervisor’s discretion.
